(Multiple positions available at NDAL/KUTTAM Koç University Medical School)
About your role:
The hired scientist will work at NDAL/KUTTAM at Koç University Hospital, mainly on neurodegenerative disease biology. A main focus will be in large scale international projects, in which combinatorial analyses of genome and epigenome data of neurological diseases are required. Global genomics analysis of large sample sizes will be needed along with possible functional follow up of the results in the wet lab.
Highly motivated and ambitious scientists with leadership potential and team player qualities are looked for. Excellent English skills written and spoken are required in addition to the following qualifications:
1A. PhD - Data Scientist: (Postdoc Stipend)
• PhD in Biology or Computer Science
• A minimum of 2 years experience in biology-related projects (preferably omics-related projects)
• Either a BSc degree in computational sciences or strong interest in computers
• Experience in big data analyses to investigate the pathogenicity of novel mutations
• Knowledge in combinatorial data analysis and/or programming
• Python, R, Matlab or similar genomics data analysis tools
• The scientist is expected to have a leading role as data analyst and bioinformatician in Project MinE or another large scale consortium/project.
• Short-term training visits to partner labs abroad will be encouraged.
• On top of the stipend, lunch and commuting expenses will be supplied.
1B. PhD – Molecular Biologist: (Postdoc Stipend)
• Experience in several wet-lab skills
• Ability to optimize novel wet lab techniques in a new lab
• Experience with neurological disease genetics: collaboration with expert clinicians is expected
• Omics analyses and functional approaches to investigate the pathogenicity of novel mutations
• Knowledge in combinatorial data analysis and/or programming is a plus
• The scientist is expected to have a leading role as an experienced scientist in Project MinE or another international project.
